The 5th Worldwide Uchinanchu Festival |

The Closing Ceremony was held to mark the ending of the five-day-long 5th Worldwide Uchinanchu Festival at Okinawa Cellular Stadium in Onoyama, Naha City on Oct. 16. In the ceremony, Governor Hirokazu Nakaima announced to continue having Worldwide Uchinanchu Festivals once every five years. He encouraged the participants from overseas to come again for the 6th Worldwide Uchinanchu Festival.

The presidents of international Okinawan Associations and Goodwill Ambassadors from all over the world proposed to institute a fund on a scale of 10-billion yen to Vice-governor Yoshiyuki Uehara at the World Uchinaa Symposium at Okinawa Convention Center in Ginowan City on Oct. 15.
